Here I am with my friends to tell you how it works.
This is a virtual group, we don't have to pay for a building, bills, staff. A good and wise friend talked me out of doing that. It's an online Internet station. And remember, a lot of the usual sources we came to depend on probably aren't going to be as available anymore. That's another reason why I think this is really important.
When you visit the crowdfunding portal on our website, you have two options. You can either join an existing effort you see in your inbox, or start your own.
If you decide to start something yourself, great! You don’t need our permission, but if you let us know, we can help amplify it, especially if it lines up with one of our goals. You might want to put a roof on a hospital, or buy a bus for the elderly, we just ask that you get the ball rolling first and invite a few friends from your own email list. A lot of folks on our list already know each other, so small sparks can turn into something bigger fast.
We recommend starting with Spot Fund, it’s the easiest on-ramp and where our portal will take you. We’ll keep an eye out, and if you flag your project for us, we’ll take a look. Just like anyone else would be asking, “Is this something we want to get behind?”
We can’t send cries for help every day, we try to limit ARM Crowdfunding campaigns to about twice a month, but if you start something worthwhile, we’re all ears. Whether you’re raising funds for an artist, a roof, or something else entirely, this is the most democratic tool I’ve ever seen.
Start something. Or join something you believe in. Just don’t sit this one out.
Thanks, Dan Allison
